People love pets. They're cute, cuddly and fun. But they also require food and water, training, exercise, attention and medical care. Unfortunately, some people find they are in over their heads in caring for animals. That's where Walker Animal Control comes in. We take in hundreds of unwanted and stray animals from Walker and greater Livingston Parish every year.
Our mission is to promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of people and pets in Livingston Parish, and reduce the dangers and nuisances caused by irresponsible pet ownership. We also protect pets from abuse, neglect and homelessness.
We provide the best care available for all of the stray animals that enter our facility. We also strive to find a new loving home for homeless animals. In addition to welcoming families contemplating a new pet to the shelter, our town employees also take animals off-site to community events to promote adoption. All of our animals who leave the facility have their age-appopriate vaccinations, de-worming and flea-prevention treatments; have been spayed or neutered; and have tested negative for heartworms.
