Faces of Walker

Why is Walker the place to be? Hear all that this community has to offer through the voices of those who have chosen to make it their home.

Dr. Richard Blue
Pastor, Walker Baptist Church
54 years old
Years in Walker:
11

What brought me here: I moved to Walker in 1998 to become pastor of Walker Baptist Church. When I moved here, Walker South Road was still a two-lane road with a sign stretching over the highway, "Pine Tree Capital of the World." Also, on my first weekend in town, a sign was posted in front of a pine thicket reading, "Coming Soon! Wal-Mart Super Center."

My favorite spot in Walker: No doubt, my favorite place in Walker is Walker Baptist Church, where I serve a wonderful congregation consisting of a blend of the founding and the newest families in Walker. I also love the Walker South Road business corridor for several reasons. First, everything a person needs is conveniently located within five minutes of most homes in town. Second, it has been exciting to watch the growth and change pointing to the strong future of Walker.

Why I love Walker: What I love most about Walker is the family-friendly environment. The values of the founding families of Walker have provided a high quality of life attracting others to become a part of our town. I believe the high family values that frame our past and present should also be preserved to ensure our future.
